Abstract The Balkan pepper breeding program aims to use in vitro embryogenesis (anther culture) develop doubled haploid lines with valuable traits. We analyzed the effectiveness of microspore on 17 genotypes comprised varieties, lines, and F 1 hybrids different varietal types (conical, bell shape, kapia) characterized agronomic traits newly generated lines. highest androgenic potential was observed variety Stryama line 560/06 9.55 13.00% reacted anthers, respectively. Of 186 regenerated plants, 147 were successfully adapted a survival index 79.03%. Flow cytometry analysis showed that haploid:diploid ratio regenerants 1.5:1. All diploid plants confirmed be origin.
